we're all just fireflies
flying our own course
down the highways of our forest
don't collect us all up in jars
until you've seen the brightness of our light

we're all made up of stories
of lights and darks
poetry and satire
happy endings and sad endings

don't rush through the trees too fast
stop and connect the stars to make a picture
the world won't stop spinning
just so you can figure out where you are and where you should be

tea parties aren't for little girls
and fairies aren't make believe
your childhood is everything you were
and you might want to be reintroduced

life is measured in teaspoons and laughs
love and hate mixed with a big wooden spoon
to make the most beautiful life that you could imagine

we are all fireflies
flying every this way and that
make your mark in the night's sky
before the sun outshines your little tail
